Counseling for teens and young adults
YOUNG ADULT & TEEN COUNSELING

Teens and young adults need someone other than their parents to talk to.

Over the the last 25 years, I've worked with hundreds of teens and young adults and enjoy helping clients through this important developmental stage. This is a time in life when young people need someone other than their parents to talk to confidentially.

I work with teens and young adults on a wide range of issues, including:

  • Drug and Alcohol Issues

  • Communication Problems

  • Defiance and other Acting Out

  • Depression

  • Relationships with Parents & Siblings

  • Divorce and Blended Families

  • Abuse and Trauma

  • Sexuality and Sexual Identity

  • Anxiety

  • Grief

  • Video Games and Internet Problems

A Drug and Alcohol Counselor and a Marriage and Family Therapist

As a licensed marriage and family therapist as well as a certified alcohol and drug counselor, I'm uniquely qualified to help with the challenge drugs and alcohol can play at this stage of development - either in high school or college. Young people these days have to navigate their social and academic lives while faced with an ever-growing list of street and prescription drugs that surround them regardless of where they go to school.

Summer and holiday check ins and tune ups

It's often helpful to have a check in with a therapist over a summer, Christmas, or Spring break. Even if a student or young adult is doing well, these meetings allow us to make sure there's nothing going on that could take them off track. I've found these to be especially helpful during the first two years of college.

If your teen or young adult is ready to get help...

If you think you or your child might benefit from counseling, feel free to call me at 512-590-9868. I’m always happy to take the time over the phone to see if I’m the right therapist to help.
