MEN'S COUNSELING IN SAN FRANCISCO

Are you dealing with something you haven't been able to talk about with anyone? Are you struggling with a relationship, an addiction, or a major life change and finding it hard to ask for help?
Or maybe things aren't terrible but you know something needs to change and you're not sure where to start?
If you're a man in San Francisco looking for a therapist, you've probably already cleared the hardest hurdle — deciding to look. Most men don't get here easily.
Why Men Don't Ask for Help
We're not raised to do this. Men are taught to handle their own problems, keep their own counsel, and figure things out without outside help. That instinct serves us well in a lot of areas. But when it comes to the things that actually matter — our relationships, our mental health, our addictions — going it alone usually makes things worse, not better.
Most of my clients tell me some version of the same thing: they waited too long. They knew something was wrong, they thought they could handle it themselves, and eventually the cost of not dealing with it became too high to ignore. A marriage in trouble. A job at risk. An addiction that was getting harder to hide.
You don't have to wait that long.
What Men Come to Me For
I've worked almost exclusively with men for nearly 30 years. The issues I work with most frequently include:
-
Sex addiction and pornography addiction
-
Drug and alcohol addiction
-
Infidelity — whether you cheated or were cheated on
-
Relationship and marriage problems
-
Difficulty expressing feelings or communicating with a partner
-
Depression and anger
-
Major life transitions — career changes, divorce, retirement
-
These aren't small things. They're the things that determine the quality of your life and your relationships. They're worth dealing with.
Why Work With a Male Therapist?
Many of my male clients specifically sought out a male therapist. They wanted someone who understood what it's like to be a man — the pressure to perform, to provide, to hold it together — without having to explain it. I get it because I've lived it.
I'm direct and practical. I don't do a lot of hand-holding or psychobabble. I ask direct questions and give direct answers. If something isn't working I'll tell you. Most men find that approach a relief.
Working Together via Telehealth
All sessions are conducted via telehealth, which means you can work with me from anywhere in California. I live in San Francisco and have worked with Bay Area clients for many years. No commute, no waiting room, no one who knows you seeing your car parked outside a therapist's office. You can do this from your home, your office, or anywhere private.
If you're in San Francisco and ready to talk, I invite you to call me at 650-646-4220.
I'm always willing to spend a few minutes on the phone or a video call first to see if we're a good fit.
